Update on Valerie

Valerie made it through her surgery on July 2nd just fine and stayed in the hospital for three days. The surgeon said everything went well. She has to wear a surgical boot now and keep the foot elevated. She goes back for a second post-op visit with her doctor on August 11th. We are praying that her x-ray then will show that the bones are fusing properly. We have been so pleased by the outpouring of love from our church people, friends and neighbors here. We had several people watch Austin, cook us meals and even clean our home. Valerie was especially thrilled that a young couple in the church has taken over her children’s church class in her absence. We would also like to thank all of you who prayed for her, sent encouraging cards and emails, and helped us financially. The recovery is slow but Valerie has managed to continue doing the PowerPoint presentation for the Sunday services and all of her other bookkeeping duties. Please pray that she will be back on her feet without pain very soon. We are praying for a quick and complete recovery. We’ll keep you posted on her progress.

Outreach Opportunities . . .

Now that the winter school holidays are over here we are getting back in gear for our outreach into the community. We were thrilled to have a detailed article run in our suburb’s quarterly newsletter. This was distributed all over the community and was free!! Dwayne will have a “For Men Only” follow up session on the 12th of August. Valerie will be starting a new class for the women called “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Women” on the 17the of August. We will be opening this class up to the community. We will be having an Unwind and Design night will be on the 18th of August. The men will be having an event the end of the month on the 29th. They will be showing off their culinary skills at a Men’s Master Chef competition. We hope this will be another opportunity to build those relationships. We know of several unsaved men coming to the event. Please pray for the land situation here. There may be some land available but we still need more people in our ministry to sustain it. Please pray that our people will get on fire to go out and help us to bring new people in. Once the land is allocated in our area there may possibly not be any more available for a very long time. Our vision is to get some land and build on it, making the building also available to the community. However, we live in a very expensive area so this will take a lot of money. Even if we raised enough money for a building we need enough people giving regularly in order to sustain. Our biggest prayer request is for the Lord’s direction and wisdom in how to best reach the people here for Christ. It is so hard to get people to reach a level of faithfulness and commitment even when they become Christians. It literally takes years and years. We must be persistent as well as patient. Most of the people here feel that they have so much and do not need a Saviour. We have found it is mostly through being one-on-one that we can develop the trust of the people so that they may one day come to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Thank you so very much for your faithful prayers and support.

Are you going to Heaven?

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:9-10
